Amid the ongoing hardships faced by our beloved Sudan and the deep concern of the diaspora for their loved ones back home, the need to strengthen solidarity and unity among us has never been greater. In keeping with the cherished Sudanese tradition of communal Iftars during the holy month of Ramadan—and in reflection of the spirit of solidarity that has always defined our community, even in the most challenging times—the Sudanese Doctors’ Union in Ireland (SDUI), in collaboration with members of the Sudanese community, organized a series of Iftar gatherings across multiple Irish cities
On Saturday, 15 March 2025, heartfelt Iftar events were held in Dublin and Galway, followed by another in Cork and Tullamore on Sunday, 16 March 2025. These gatherings were part of SDUI’s broader vision (2024-2026) to foster stronger community ties and solidarity among the Sudanese diaspora in Ireland, bringing together individuals from all walks of life.
These Iftars served as a vibrant celebration of Sudan’s rich cultural diversity, uniting attendees in an atmosphere of pride and belonging. Representatives from the union delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of community cohesion, particularly during these extraordinary times for Sudan.
