Dear Esteemed Members of Our Union,
I extend to you a greeting filled with pride and honor. It is my pleasure to address you with a message born of a firm belief in our capabilities and our determination to elevate our union and achieve its objectives.
First, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the members of the General Assembly for the invaluable trust they have placed in us to steer the union during this important phase. Rest assured, we will do our utmost to live up to this responsibility, working with sincerity and dedication to serve every member without exception.
The Executive Committee fully recognizes the magnitude of the challenges our union faces, yet we firmly believe that through combined efforts and collaboration, we can overcome them.
In this context, we have set before us an ambitious vision centered around the following:
First:
- Continue reforming the union’s structure and safeguarding its assets to ensure its continuity, strengthen its foundations, and reinforce the principles of transparency and good governance.
Second:
- Redefine the Sudanese Doctors Union in Ireland (SDUI) as an attractive and influential entity within the professional community, both in the diaspora and at home.
Third:
- Launch innovative projects that serve both physicians and the community while striving for excellence in service delivery.
To achieve this vision, we will diligently implement the following steps within the three axes in parallel:
Regarding the General Secretariat:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the SDUI’s structure and current governance framework. A dedicated task force will study the restructuring of both the union and the company.
- Defend the rights and interests of Sudanese doctors in Ireland, improve their working and living conditions, and enhance the recognition of Sudanese medical qualifications.
- Provide support and guidance to Sudanese doctors navigating the Irish healthcare system.
- Stand in solidarity with doctors in Sudan by liaising with the Sudanese Doctors Union, contributing to the support of its activities and programs.
- Interact with, show solidarity with, and contribute to solving the Sudanese community’s issues in collaboration with colleagues in the diaspora.
- Launch the “Nibras” program as a pioneering professional development program for Sudanese doctors residing in Ireland, enhancing their presence within the Irish healthcare system through strengthened networking and knowledge-building.
Finance Office:
- Collaborate with the Membership Office to ensure regular updates of member data, collection of membership fees, and follow-up on arrears.
- Proactively identify and pursue fundraising opportunities and grant applications to support SDUI initiatives.
- Develop a comprehensive budget outlining the expected revenues and expenditures for the SDUI.
Membership Office:
- Build an active and engaged community of Sudanese doctors in Ireland and provide them with ongoing support.
- Expand the union’s membership base through targeted communication and engagement strategies and develop activities and events to retain members, thereby fostering loyalty and continuous participation.
- Establish and maintain an active, supportive community of Sudanese medical professionals in Ireland.
Media Office:
- Enhance the union’s vision and presence through strategic communication and engagement with members and the public on a large scale.
- Revitalize and update the union’s website and activate its social media platforms.
- Launch a series of recorded radio programs featuring diverse content, including professional issues, medical education, and topics of particular interest to our members and the general public.
- Re-issue the annual SDUI magazine.
- Create impactful content, promote the union’s initiatives, and foster a strong online and offline presence that reflects the union’s values and goals.
Social Affairs Office:
- Organize sessions that facilitate the exchange of experiences and build bridges of communication between the pioneering generation and the new generations of Sudanese doctors in Ireland.
- Host a series of social and cultural events that celebrate national occasions and enhance communication and interaction among Sudanese doctors.
- Dedicate events to honor veteran Sudanese doctors in Ireland, recognizing their valuable contributions to medicine and the service of the Sudanese community.
- Expand the scope of our humanitarian initiatives in Sudan.
Academic Office:
- Organize workshops, training courses, SDUI Induction Marathon, and provide continuing medical education opportunities.
- Offer scholarships, support scientific research, and facilitate the participation of Sudanese physicians in Ireland in medical conferences.
- Hold the 6th and 7th SDUI Annual Scientific Symposium (SAS).
- We remain hopeful that the shadow of war will dissipate, enabling us—together with our colleagues in the diaspora—to host the 2nd Sudan International Medical Symposium.
In conclusion,
The biggest challenge in the coming period is to make everyone a genuine part of the union’s journey, not only in vision but also in preparation and implementation.
On our part, we will spare no effort and dedicate all our energies to transform this vision into a tangible reality, believing that the most beautiful days are those we have not yet lived and that the future holds many achievements and successes that we will achieve together.
With sincere regards and appreciation,

Dr Yasar Hammor
Secretary General
