In a profound demonstration of solidarity and compassion, the Sudanese Doctors’ Union of Ireland (SDUI) has successfully delivered Eid al-Adha Qurbani (sacrificial meat) to 230 families in the besieged city of El Fasher. This was achieved through the union’s emergency humanitarian campaign, #Aid_ElFasher.
This significant accomplishment was made possible through an on-the-ground collaboration with the Takiya Hai Al-Rabaa Al-Awwal in El Fasher. Thanks to the generous donations from the Sudanese community and supporters in Ireland, the campaign brought joy and relief to families on the first day of Eid al-Adha, navigating the immense challenges imposed by the siege and severe shortages of basic supplies.
The aid delivered was more than just sustenance; it was a powerful message of hope that helped break the siege of hunger and reminded the people of El Fasher that they are not forgotten.
Under the campaign’s unifying slogan, “A Hand that Rescues… A Nation that Breathes,” efforts from Ireland and El Fasher combined to ensure aid reached those most in need, proving that distance is no barrier to hearts united for their homeland.
In a statement, the SDUI expressed its deepest gratitude to every donor and supporter who contributed to this campaign, affirming that, “El Fasher breathes through your hearts.” The union also extended its prayers for an end to the suffering of the people of El Fasher and for peace, security, and stability to prevail throughout Sudan.
