The Sudanese Doctors Union of Ireland (SDUI) observes with profound sorrow and alarm the brutal escalation in El Fasher, following its invasion by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. We are tracking news of horrific massacres, heinous crimes against civilians, and the complete humanitarian collapse in the city, which is facing an undeniable campaign of genocide, systematic ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.
What the RSF is perpetrating in El Fasher is not conventional warfare; it is a fully-fledged act of genocide and a crime against humanity by every international standard. The militia’s actions go beyond the killing of innocent civilians; they include the deliberate and systematic destruction of life’s infrastructure through the rampant looting of hospitals, medical facilities, pharmacies, and civilian properties, the intentional targeting and killing of medical staff and humanitarian volunteers, including martyrs from the Al-Takaya initiatives who were providing vital aid to the besieged population, and the commission of mass rape and sexual violence, as well as the field execution of prisoners and unarmed family members.
The scale of the tragedy in El Fasher is catastrophic. The city is being transformed into a vast mass grave. For many of the living, death has become a desperate wish—a final escape from the unbearable agony under this criminal yoke.
The SDUI, as it declares its deep mourning for the fallen and its complete solidarity with the wounded and displaced, demands and affirms the following:

We urgently demand the United Nations, the African Union, and the entire international community take immediate, decisive action to halt the genocide now underway, ensure the robust protection of civilians in El Fasher and beyond, open secure humanitarian corridors for the safe delivery of aid to the affected, and ensure accountability by bringing the perpetrators to justice before international tribunals.
We issue a final, desperate appeal to all living Sudanese political and civil forces to immediately unite and reject all internal differences to stop this senseless war. This is the ultimate test: we must either unite now to staunch the flow of Sudanese blood, or we will certainly lose what remains of our nation.
